Our Mission
Mountain Kids is built for the families who live here year-round — not vacationers, not second-home owners, but the teachers, healthcare workers, tradespeople, and parents who call these towns home. Twice a year, we bring an affordable, well-organized consignment event to the community, in both English and Spanish, so every family can take part.
Our Founder
Mountain Kids Consignment was founded by Kristen, a single mom who knows what it costs to raise kids right now — in the mountains or anywhere else. As the cost of living in the valley keeps climbing and the local economy keeps shifting, families need more ways to make their money go further. Organizations like The Kids Closet have long provided donation-based support for families in need — but there's never been an organized consignment sale here, where any family can sell what their kids have outgrown and shop for what's next, at a fair price.
Bilingual commitment
A significant number of families in our mountain communities speak Spanish as a first language, and no local consignment event has ever made a real effort to reach them. Mountain Kids is bilingual from the ground up — registration support, drop-off assistance, and event materials are all available in Spanish, not just English with a translated flyer.
Our Team
Kristen teams up with Dani, a bilingual mom of three boys who brings the same firsthand understanding of raising kids on a budget, in both Spanish and English. Together, they handle everything from consignor support to drop-off day, making sure no family is left out of the conversation because of language.
Community
At the end of every sale, unsold donated items go directly to The Kids Closet, keeping good, gently used gear right here in our community.
Mountain Kids is about making it a little easier for local families to raise kids in the mountains — one outgrown jacket, one pair of snow boots, one good deal at a time.
